Buttoned up Hexagons

Earlier this spring, Anna Maria Horner's wonderful blog had instructions to make a hexagon quilted handbag. I dutifully followed the instructions for the hexagon piecing part, while imagining this wonderful handbag swinging from either my arm or a friends. For months I admired this pieced explosion of color, lying flat on my sewing table, then lying flat under some other projects, then I'd find it again, and straighten out again, while wishing I'd find just the right orange corduroy to finish the bag--the apple of my mind's eye.

FINALLY, I admitted the bag was all but a bit of wisp in the level of the atmosphere to which all unmaterialized ideas go.

BUT, the colors and the hexagons beautifully came together with some Nina Campbell flocked linen and vintage buttons (please note bound button holes --I mention smugly), for a pillow.
